The timestamps logged for 'last watered' are all wrong. Set a program to start on a particular day, save the program, and re-open it to find that the date has changed to the day b. The app doesn't seem to understand time zones properly - which is a pretty fundamental flaw for something that is basically a timer.

The problem is that the software is utterly hopeless. As other reviewers have said, it looks great on paper, and the device itself seems solid and well made. I have just bought a Holman wifi tap timer, and despite being cheaper with less features, the wifi link seems very reliable.Īfter being quite impressed with the B-Hyve tap controllers I bought this unit as my main irrigation controller with high expectations. These devices have very limited effective range. (Of course the other tap timer will never connect to the hub.) So my conclusion is that all of my connection/control issues were caused by the hub and tap timer being too far apart. I have now moved the hub to within approx 6m of one of the tap timers and that seems to resolve all the issues for that timer. In one case the timer was stored in my garage with the batteries removed for 2 weeks but the App still showed it as connected! The App shows one program, but the tap timer is operating on a different program. It shows the timers are connected when they are not. Read more The App does not report accurate data. I found the best position for the hub, but connection to the tap timers frequently disconnected. I have two tap timers located approx 30m apart, and had to try several locations for the hub so that it would connect to both timers simultaneously. The issues have got progressively worse in recent months. Unfortunately the connection between the Wifi hub and the tap timers has always been intermittent at best. The tap timers themselves are well made and have many features. I have been using B-hyve tap timers with a wifi hub for over a year. Purchased in January 2020 at Bunnings Warehouse for $195.
#B HYVE SMART TIMER INSTALL#
My advise is to spend a bit of time making sure the system is UVprotected/weatherproof, install quality SV's & ensure all 24V connections are solid. Note the internals of majority of these controllers are the same but different branding. Overall very good product for the price ($195) as other compatible products were $120-250 higher & more. Check as there is an Australian contact number for support. Issue 3 - As others have said, support problems but lucky enough to call & get resolution quickly. Eventually installed Pope 25mm SV's w Flow Control (more $$) & no issues for the last 12Mths. Originally installed Orbit SV's & they worked intermittently & failed in 12Mths. Issue 2 - If having watering issues check if Sol Valves (SV) are working & working correctly. I adhere to the KISS theory (Keep It Simple Stupid) & do not have the rain sensor or WiFi SV's as heard nothing but problems. Issue during summer when may not operate for extended periods if string of rain forecast & get nothing or small amount. Even hint of rain & unit goes into Delay Mode.

Using the Controller Display is a pain in the butt so have always used mobile app with no issues. Maybe overkill but have had no Controller issues for 2 years & experience as commissioning engineer has told me thats where problems start. I have also put all 24V wiring inside conduits for protection & shrink-wrapped all connections.
I have put the Controller weatherproof box & SV's inside other weatherproof boxes as UV & moisture kills everything eventually. Installed 6 station unit with K-Rain 25mm SV Master Valve approx 2 years ago.
